National Grosgrain Ribbon

National Brown Grosgrain Ribbon

A 1 1/2" inch wide, brown grosgrain on its original spool - the label is silver & blue and has the Statue of Liberty. I don't know the fabric content but suspect it's rayon or a rayon/cotton blend. It is soft, has a bit of a sheen, and feels wonderful in the hand.

In two pieces on the spool - 1 yard, 15 inches and 3 yards for a total of 4 yards, 15 inches. All for $16

Cinderella Shoe Tie / Faille / Grosgrain Ribbon - Antique

Cinderella Faille / Grosgrain Ribbon

This is a very faille or very fine grosgrain ribbon, in a delicious cinnamon color. Sold by the manufacturer around the turn of the 19th-20th century as "shoe tie," it was used as a shoe lace which would produce a beautiful bow.

It measures a big 1 1/2" inches wide.

We have 11 yards available, at $7/yard.

Offray Floral Vintage Grosgrain Ribbon

Offray Flowers Grosgrain - In Original Packaging

This is grosgrain ribbon; red and blue flowers on a white background. Made by CM Offray & Son, NY. The design is printed onto the ribbon.

Dates from the 1970s - I actually have a photo of this design in use in 1977. It was probably made before that as well.

The label states "undetermined fabric content." The ribbon is still in its original packaging, a metal label which wraps around it.

There is a tiny spot near one edge (see enlarged photo - it's right above the label at right). In a few places the manufacturer printed a little red strip printed at the ribbon's edge. Else in excellent, unused condition.

It measures 5 feet long, and is 15/16" in width. $3.00 for the package.

French Grosgrain Ribbon with Plastic Stripes - Vintage

Grey Grosgrain with Red & Grey Stripes

This is an very, very unusual ribbon. It is a fine grey grosgrain, which has two ribbons of red and black stitched down the center. What makes it particulary unusual is that the center stripes are actually a very, very thin early plastic. I have not been able to defnitively identify the type of plastic, but it may be celluloid. The ribbon is quite flexible.

This is the most amazing ribbon - I've never seen anything like it before. (I was fortunate enough to purchase another along with this one; see below for another width/color scheme.)

The ribbon is on its original paper-lined spool, made in France a very long time ago. There's no fabric content noted, but I think the grosgrain is rayon. As is usual, there are a few pinholes, else in fine condition, as new. It's approximately 3/4" inch wide.

Age is unknown, but the spool is obviously quite old, and the ribbon has a very Art Deco feeling to it.

5 yards available, at $15.00 per yard.

French Grosgrain Ribbon with Plastic Stripes - Vintage

Deep Brown Grosgrain with Red, White and Gold Stripes

This fantastic ribbon is a fine, dark chocolate brown grosgrain, which has four ribbons of red, white, and gold stitched down the center. What makes it particulary unusual is that the center stripes are actually a very, very thin plastic. I have not been able to defnitively identify the type of plastic, but it may be celluloid. The ribbon is quite flexible.

This is incredibly unusual ribbon; I've never come across another example before. (I was fortunate enough to purchase another along with this one; see above for another width/color scheme.)

Red/Grey Art Deco Grosgrain

Red/Grey Art Deco Grosgrain

Here's a rare spool of very fine art-deco patterned grosgrain ribbon. In the early 20th century, grosgrain of this type was used for watchbands; this spool is marked "Bracelets Montre" - "watch band."

Very narrow, at 5/16 inch, in a red & light grey design.

$11/yard, or $45 for the full spool (4 yards, 17 inches)

Vintage Ribbon

Samson Brand White Belting

Very stiff, white "Directoire Belting," made in the USA by Samson. Label is marked 3/4" inch, but I measure 13/16" inch wide.

It's in lovely condition. Over the 8 yards, I noticed two tiny pale brown age spots, all the rest is bright white. Ready for your special project. 8 yards available, at $4.00/yard.

Royal Swan Rayon Dress Belting - 1940s

Royal Swan All Rayon Dress Belting

Two inches wide, this dress belting likely dates from the 1940s. It's on the original spool, and measures 2 yards, 34 inches.

This is a thick, somewhat stiff, ribbed belting, in black. It's still on its spool.

The entire spool of it is yours for just $9.50.
